koh tao
Hello all! Just a quick one to let you know what we have been up to. I have started my Divemaster course so am getting to do a lot of free diving as I need to log at least 60 dives by the end of the course but I will end up with more than that. Am getting to know the local dive sites as once I am qualified I will be leading certified divers on tours and basically showing them a good time! So far we have seen Blue Spotted Rays, white eyed Moray Eels, Clownfish (Nemo!), the feared Titan Triggerfish (I have now seen it attack two different divers, luckily neither of us have been victims yet!) and cool, moody looking Groupers to name a few. When we finally get our camera housing we will be able to show you pics of all our fishy friends! I have got a lot of studying to do too! Kieran had his first instructor job today teaching Advanced Open Water students. The dive school really like him and his work so have offered him more courses, which is great. It has been a bit stormy here over the last couple of days and the sea has been very choppy indeed! A lot of the dive schools aren’t sending their boats out in the morning and apparently one sunk a few days ago! It is still hot though so the rain is quite refreshing.
The view is from our favourite hangout, Happy Daze Tree house Bar, the name says it all! The Siamese cat lives there, his name is Oo-un which means fat in Thai! He is very talkative and will just come and plonk himself down on you whenever he feels! He lives with about 10 dogs of various breeds and Bud the monkey and of course the chickens. The drink is one of our favourites, Pineapple, Mango and Banana shake, just mixed up with ice, no milk, perfect!
As you can see the sunsets here are really beautiful, these pictures were taken last week. There was a full moon too a week ago, the moon was huge and amazingly bright, you can see why they party under it! The moon also ‘fills up’ (waxes/wanes) from bottom to top here, rather than from side to side like in the UK, which I thought was quite interesting. We have not ventured to one of the full moon parties on Koh Phangan yet but we have heard some interesting stories!
Hope to hear from you soon…ACxx

Still have no camera housing, rubbish
I am still awaiting my underwater housing, just a few random photos to keep you in touch,
we went to a rip off place just off of Ko Tao, it was very expensive but hey you live and learn.
Also the monkey is deluded and thinks that the baby chicken is really a baby monkey, it preens it feathers for fleas, and takes it up the tree at night to bed. Very sweet. The monkeys name is Bud, the chicken has not yet been named.
The other photos were taken at the island and at the hut.
Peace Bloggers.

Amys Turn to leat Y'all know!!!
Amy’s turn: Hey bloggers! Glad to hear you like our web page! After enduring the smog of Bangkok for only one day and having a mini holiday on Koh Phangan we have made it to the beautiful clear blue shores of Koh Tao, our new home. After staying a few nights here and there in random resorts we have found somewhere to rent on a monthly basis. As you can probably see from the pictures it is brand new, we are the first to live here. It may look a bit shed like as it’s made of wood but its way nicer than some places we looked at! Plus the landlords are cool; they have a bar at the top of a very steep hill at the other end of the island and give us free lifts there when we want. Those are the photos from above, the ones from the bar look down over Chaolok Ban Ko, our first place we stayed. There is a free lightening show every night, and only cool people hang out there…
We have also hired a semi automatic motorbike for a month so we can get around. I am probably going to start my Divemaster course next week but there are so many schools to choose from and I am being as indecisive as ever! Done a couple of dives the other day that were pretty good, nothing amazing to report though, saw blue spotted rays, moray eels and triggerfish. The water here is so warm though, its still about 30 degrees at 20 metres! I have also found a couple of yoga classes, which I am well pleased about. Kieran has taken to wearing sarongs, which actually look quite fetching, no Beckham jokes please! Will give you another update soon, love to you all xxxx
